His friend and sailing mentor, Harry Pattison, runs a charter business called Dreamboat Adventure Sailing based at Winslow Wharf Marina. Pattison, who's been a licensed captain for 25 years, also offers lodging aboard his 44-foot sailing yacht Oh Joy II, but he'll only be allowed to continue that at the marina until the end of this year.
Eagle Harbor Marina was purchased earlier this year by a partnership headed by island resident Bob Wise, who owns two other Puget Sound marinas and is a marina marketing consultant for the Port of Bremerton. Contacted by the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal about allowing boats at the marina to be used for rental lodging, he sent a statement saying the marina is 'reviewing our options in regards to Airbnb businesses' before making a decision. 'We are in discussions with other marinas, ports and harbormasters regarding these kinds of arrangements and gathering information,' he said.
One feature of the hotel is the infinity pool on its roof that spans three buildings in total - and constructing it was no small feat. Overlooking the entirety of the city and the marina, many wonder if the views are worth the steep price of a hotel room. In short, the answer is yes, and this is why.
Infinity pools are so popular because of their ability to trick the mind into thinking they're never-ending. The pool's water comes right up to the surface and seems to cascade over the side in what would be a waterfall but, when viewed from overhead, there's a ledge that keeps water from actually spilling over the side. The result is a seamless pool with seemingly no edges, making swimmers appear as though they're free-floating in a pool of water with no wals. The infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands does this exceptionally well, and over a distance that's rather mindboggling, especially for those who are lucky enough to take a dive.
Many might be wondering what it's like to have the chance to swim in this incredible infinity pool, and the experience is second to none. There are some things to keep in mind (more on that later) but in short, it's something worth checking into. The pool is only open to those who are staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which will run visitors a pretty penny. However, the chance to swim in one of the best pools in the world, and take a dip in one out of three hot tubs that overlook the marina, is well worth it.
As mentioned before, the pool is also home to three separate hot tubs. While the infinity pool looks over the city skyline, the hot tubs are facing the opposite way and have gorgeous views of the marina down below. Along with the pool, guests will find seating and lounge chairs which are all first-come, first-serve. Anyone who leaves their things behind to theoretically 'save a seat' will likely notice that they've been moved - the hotel staff is pretty quick to clear off chairs (after about 45 minutes or so) so that waiting guests can sit down. 1e1e36bf2d
